Hello Sirenian Bay friends!
Tis the season – July! If you’re planning a mid-year vacation with friends and family, Belize is the place to be. We’ve got the weather, the food, and those all-important steals and deals.
Here are some tips for planning your Christmas in July in Belize.
Book a spacious VRBO
July is the start of the off-season in Belize, so make the most of the discounts with a roomy vacation rental. If you’re flying in family and friends for your Christmas in July celebrations, a vacation rental is great value for money. Vacation rentals often have a team of staff able to help out with food and decor requests, so ask about having a “Christmas” menu and decorations planned. Do expect them to have a tropical twist!
Keep it low-key
The weather in Belize tends to be hot and rainy throughout the year, although most of the rain hits in the evening. Always have a wet weather contingency plan just in case. When booking your accommodation, consider a place on the beach. That way you’ll be able to enjoy the sun and sea during the day, but can head back inside if the weather turns. Plan for a Christmas spent the traditional way – relaxing with food, games and movies – and you’ll do just fine!
Pick “cool” activities
Yes, it’s hot outside, but the right clothing and insect repellant helps. So can picking the right family activity. Try going underground with a visit to the Actun Tunichil Muknil (ATM) cave, where you’ll enjoy cooler weather along with incredible archaeological treasures. The ocean is an ideal destination at this time of year: try your hand at snorkeling, scuba diving, swimming or sailing. Just be sure to wear sunscreen!
